If you have decided to keep
chickens, you need to be thinking early on about how to house
them; no matter how cute those little chicks are, they will
grow very quickly, and you can be fairly sure that you won't
want them in your own home once fully grown! |
Chicken coops range from basic
adaptations of an existing dog kennel or shed to full-blown bespoke
poultry palaces. There are a lot of possibilities in between but
happily only a few requirements; the primary concerns being that
the coop should be dry, warm, draft-free (but well ventilated)
and secured from predators.
On this site you will find some photos and
details of coops from subscribers of my Keeping Chickens Newsletter
(a free entertaining and informative online magazine for chicken
keepers). There are also a few chicken
coop plans available to download.
Enjoy!
